Wages Frozen (strike)

Over that past few years Greece has found its self borrowing more and more money from foreign nations to full fill its want and needs. The countries political system is quite corrupt and public money is always going missing. After financial crises Greece was very vulnerable to problems because the fact countries economy is so weak, and fact they borrow so much money from banks through selling Greek bonds. Unfortunately the country has put itself into huge debt crisis causing a cut in public workers pay. The European Union has told Greece to do whatever it has to in order to get it's debt under control. What Greece has decided to do is freeze the hiring of public workers, raise the retirement age to 65 years old. Greece unions are notorious for closing down airports, schools, and public transportation. Union workers have said they are willing to accept cuts but that the average worker shouldn't be penalized it is the bankers who have miss handle the situation which they should be. That the upper class should be more heavily taxed and then the average worker, that is the conditions which the unions are willing to accept.Unfortunately for the average worker, they are always the one caring the burden of mistakes of upper class and big banks. We saw this in the U.S when wall street and big banks were bail out, it was the average worker who picked up the burden of rich and powerful mistakes. Even today we see that the big banks and wall street have gone back to its old ways. Greece is in the same situation and unfortunate for the average worker they always will be one burden when comes to money.

How this relates to the recent reading is how we need to increase the production while drecreasing wages. Meaning the Greek goverment wants it's employees to do more while not getting an increase in pay, and telling them they need to worker more before they can retire. The goverment is under valuing the peoples labor, in order to increase the profit they will recieve from there labor. With pay freezes people are expected to work and get paid the same amount of money, with no increase in pay while trying make living. The goverment in return will uses the surplus to help pay for the debt the country has acumulated.

Protest freeze, Israeli settlers block inspectors

On Cnn.com in the world sections, i found an interesting article written by Izzy Lem berg. The article was touching base on an ongoing issue regarding Israeli settlements into the Gaze Strip. What is happening is that Israel government has come under pressure from the International community to stop building and extending settlements. Many people who are currently living in settlements are complaining about this. Claiming that these communities are being extended so that the community as hole can benefit from it. In the pictures they show kids and parents together building their local community. Local people are stopping inspectors or anyone attempting to put an end to the construction of new buildings.

The issue here is Israeli government is being criticized for allowing its people to take advantage of the cheap land, or land that is cheap and can be renovated.

What I believe Locke respond would be that, if someone in plants his own labor whether is be renovating old buildings, or taking land that is in not in use and using it is good thing. The local community is benefiting from local investment. People in the local town are being employed for their labor and in receiving a form of payment in coin. All the land surrounding us is meant for the common use of all. What Locke claim is that land as long as it's being used and not being left to spoil it's ok. Like the settlers in West Bank why shouldn't they be angry; if so much time and effort went into building this community, why should it not be able to expand if it is doing well. From this i say Locke would not like the idea of ban being put on land not being put into use, the land is worth more if it put into use.

Aristotle and AID to Haiti People

We see Aristotle's words relating to real life events taking place today. A major disaster had taken place in Haiti were a 7.0 earthquake has taken place. People are left without basic needs such as water, food, and medical supplies. Well nations and people have come together for common good of supplying theses people with their basic needs. In the article Glitches Remain, but aid reaching quake victims on CNN.COM. The article is shedding light on what all the organizations and people's donations are doing to help assist with the crisis. Thanks to some many organizations rushing to assist in helping set up medical centers, distributing water and food has really helped the people of that nation. Aristotle believes that it is important that people help one another and give if they can. Common everyday needs such as water, food, and medical supplies are in need. Nations around the world are stepping in to help as Aristotle would say in the cause of a common good. Just as Aristotle said when you take away the meaning behind money, it is worth nothing, a perfect example is what's going on in Haiti. Money isn't worth anything right now, basic things such as water, food, and other things that are needed for everyday are worth more. People are always to concerned about getting more money up until something like this occurs and they come to relize something like water in really worth more
